six - nail art #1.

One of my favourite gifts from Christmas was the collection of nail varnishes I got - Scarlet Sparkle and Emerald Black (Beetlejuice collection) from Models Own! However the best thing I got in the nail department was the Models Own/WAH Nails nail-art pen! I've been playing around with it, and, while I think the polish comes out a little bit fast on the precision nib, overall I love it. Here's my take on Gem Fatale's Leopard Print :)

five - to the dark(er) side.

So, looks like I've got started on my list a lot sooner than I thought I would! ;) Today I finally took the plunge and dyed my hair for the first time. Not going to lie I was terrified of it turning green/falling out!
I used Loreal Casting Creme Gloss in shade 515 - Chocolate Truffle (yes I did choose it because of it's yummy name).

My mum and sister helped with this as it was my first time, and they did a stellar job I reckon! ;) It's come out a rich, dark brown with some reddish tones to it. Obviously this will change after a few washes/in the daylight! But so far I'm very happy with it!

Previously I was dark brown, but in the sunlight my hair did tend to go quite light, so this might not seem like a big change to those who know me (and my hair colour) well, but I really love it! Here are some pictures:

This looks like a before and after shot, but it's not! Just the new hair with and without flash :)

Has anyone tried any other shades of Loreal? Did you like them? :)

Over the summer months I'm longing to get back into reading, a hobby I love, but sadly stopped during my first year at University due to lack of time and motivation. I love to get lost in a good book, so here is my list to get through in the next 3 months :)

9. Great Expectations - Charles Dickens
10. Stone Junction - Jim Dodge
11. The Bell Jar - Sylvia Plath
12. Perfume - Patrick Suskind
13. Fifty Shades of Grey - EL James

three - bye bye 2011.

"And I am done with my graceless heart, so tonight I'll cut it out and then restart" - Florence & The Machine

Well, I'm currently snuggled up with my cat/new dressing gown and I thought, what better time to blog ;) I'm going to try and regularly post to get as much viewing on here as possible, it'll be a hard slog but worth it when I have more readers eh :) Hope everyone had a great Christmas! I got lots of goodies which I'll share in another post. Does anyone else seriously dislike this period before NYE and after Christmas? Nothing happens, it's so weird!

Anyway, I've never been happier to say goodbye to a year. 2011 has been probably the worst to date (not to be pesimistic!), I've lost two very important people in my life, diagnosed with that d-word, left home, etc. Lots of change. But, I'm willing to start 2012 with a new perspective.

Up there is my family, in case you haven't realised! I've loved being back home after a tricky first Semester in Liverpool, I've felt very relaxed around them. Coming back to Liverpool on January 7th I think, so here's hoping for a better future :)

two - "get to know me".

001. Are you at University?
I am, I'm in my second year at the University of Liverpool. I study Oceans, Climate & Physical Geography.

002. Where do you live?
Either in Liverpool (term time), or Preston, when I come home to see my family. These are both in NW England.

003. How do you spend your spare time?
I'm pretty lazy, so not much! I read, watch films, drink tea, catch up on blogs.

004. Do you have a special 'someone'?
I'm single.

005. You ramble on about depression an awful lot...
Yes, I do! I've had severe neurological depression for nearly 2 years, and I think it's important to raise awareness about it. Just because I have a mental illness does not mean I'm "crazy". My depression comes in the form of bad days, weeks or months. I hope to beat it eventually, but I'm in no rush. I was put on medication last year, and have recently stopped taking it, purely because I want to get better naturally. If you have any questions or want any advice, don't hesitate to contact me!

one.

Why hello there.

In case you don't know me already, I'm called Gabby. I'm nineteen years old, am a very proud Northern girl and enjoy drinking tea, reading and painting my nails.

I previously had a blog called Delusion Imagery, but I feel it grew old for me and didn't have a purpose. I needed a break from blogging, so took a month or so out. This blog is mainly a personal one, not a diary as such, just ramblings about my days and thoughts. I'm not entirely sure if this blog will keep going, I'm not ashamed to say that I've been suffering with depression for around a year now and 2012 is the year I beat it. So if I do go MIA every so often you can be sure it's because of that! Now, in aid of personal issues, a feature of the new blog will involve writing 5 things that make me happy at the end of each post.

I'll post again in the new year (for anyone that happens to find this! I'm not promoting this til I'm ready you see), so for now, bye :)!
5 things; Sweet tea, Cosmo, Beetlejuice nail polish, lie-ins and Christmas.
